LNO ( Ladies Night Out ) - Join us for this monthly event. Many families say their best support comes from other parents. This event gives mothers, grandmothers, sisters, and friends a chance to talk and socialize. LNO meets each month in a variety restaurants locations which are posted on the calendar.

Friday Socialites
Who are the Friday Socialites: Anyone between the ages of 18 years and 45 years who has an intellectual or developmental disability who likes to socialize and spend time with friends.
Who are The Socialite Friends: Adults who do not have intellectual disabilities who like to socialize and spend time with friends. 3rd Friday of each month 5:30 - 8:00 - Miller Park Recreation Center -

"No Limits II" Dance Club
This is a dance club for mentally and physically challenged adults (18 years or older). The club offers adults the chance to socialize the same way as their peers do at traditional gatherings. The gym is transformed to a dance club complete with dynamic light show, DJ, from 7 to 9 PM once a month. Admission is free. Refreshments are provided and door prizes are given. There is plenty of seating for parents or support staff who want come along. For more information call Melinda Gentry at 924-6507. Dances are held the second Friday of the month (September - May) at Pinedale Christian Church, 3395 Peters Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
Directions: 40 By-pass to Peters Creek Pkwy/Hwy 150 exit 192. Turn right and proceed south through 3 lights, go under Clemmonsville Rd bridge, get in the left lane and proceed to the second church. Turn left at crossover onto Ocala St that runs between Grace Church and Pinedale Church. Turn right into Pinedales parking lot, go to the left side of the building, you can drop off at the double doors and park in the lot across the street.
Saturday Club
If your child is between the ages of 11 years and 21 years and would like to increase their social opportunities - consider The Saturday Club.
The Saturday Club is a social/recreational club for teens run by Ann Haynes of the Parks and Recreation Department. It is a great way to make friends. The club has one activity a month. Activities include dances, dinners, bowling, movies, swimming, crafts, miniature golf, field trips to the zoo and local ball games. Some events are free and there is a nominal cost for others. Post Secondary Residential Program - Beyond Academics
Beyond Academics at UNC-Greensboro is a four year, post-secondary education program for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The course of study prepares enrolled students for a self-determined lifestyle after college emphasizing careers, meaningful avocations, and community living. Through the partnership of UNCG and Beyond Academics, students in the Integrative Community Studies certificate track attend classes on campus. Integrative Community Studies students are eligible to receive individual supports from the Beyond Academics program while residing in university student housing, according to their academic and community living aspirations. - www.beyondacademics.org

Special Olympics Forsyth County
Provides year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults (ages eight and up) who have mental retardation. SOFC offers a variety of sports including, aquatics, bocce, softball, track and field, golf, basketball, soccer, bowling, equestrian, and alpine skiing. Some programs are unified events. 727-2505.

Triad First In Families (TFIF)
Leverages community resources and/or provides cash assistance to meet the needs of children and adults who have disabilities. The focus is on needs for which there are no other funding sources. The PDSSN provides funds through TFIF for families in Forsyth, Davie, Davidson. Stokes, Surry, and Yadkin Counties. Net income limitations. Call 336-724-1412 ext. 144 or 153 for more information.
